Voice and Opera


In preparation for professional careers, voice students practice, perform, and learn a diversity of vocal pieces, from baroque arias to great 19th century operatic roles.

Students of voice and opera have skills as singers. Classes, recitals and Lessons help students build a personal style and also help to prepare as supporting players or soloists in opera companies or choirs.

Are You Ready To...?

  • Work with a teacher in private lessons
  • Learn to sing in other languages -- usually French, Italian, and German
  • Spend long hours practicing
Did You Know?
As an undergraduate voice student, you should spend no more than about 3 hours singing each day to prevent injury.
