The Department of Music at NKU has the advantage of being in a large metropolitan area. Our students regularly benefit from our ability to bring internationally recognized performers and scholars to the campus. Past campus guests have included Kathleen Battle, Eileen Farrell, Keith Lockhart (conductor of the Boston Pops), Chanticleer, the Miami Wind Quintet, Seymour Lipkin, Jeffrey Siegel, Jamie Laredo, members of the New York Voices, harpsichordist Martha Folts, jazz pianist Steven Schmidt and many others. Students also take advantage of the many cultural opportunities that the Greater Cincinnati Region affords. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paavo Jarvi, for example, is one of the nation's great orchestras.
