Rutgers University - Newark (Departament of visual and performing arts)
The undergraduate music program offers courses and performance opportunities for all Rutgers students, in all types of music. Many students choose to major, double-major or minor in music. Our faculty includes internationally recognized artists and scholars in jazz and classical music. Courses include music appreciation (touching on all types of music), fundamentals (how to read and write music), the history of classical music, Beethoven, Bach, jazz appreciation, rock, music from other cultures, women in music, and others. Students may take advantage of the exceptional music resources at Rutgers-Newark. In Bradley Hall we are working on equipping a music laboratory with synthesizers and software for composition, notation, or the basics of music.
