Samford University Division of Music

The School of Performing Arts, through its Division of Music, provides graduate studies in two major fields: music education and church music. Each of these programs has a strong vocational focus. The first prepares classroom music teachers; the second equips musicians for ministry in a congregational setting. Beyond the areas of specialization, the Division of Music through its graduate programs aims to prepare well-rounded professionals who demonstrate a high level of musicianship, competence in solo performance and conducting, a secure knowledge of historical and analytical approaches to music literature, and the ability to do research and writing appropriate to the vocational areas.
