YCP Music Department

The Music, Art, and Communication department offers music courses to better serve students who wish to explore the field of music as part of their liberal arts education. The MAC department offers two baccalaureate degree programs in Music: a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. The major in Music Education is a professional program, stressing competence in teaching the full range of vocal, instrumental, and general music from kindergarten through high school, while the major in music allows students to specialize in some area of music performance. Both majors offer preparation for a variety of music-related careers or graduate study. Students may also pursue a two-year Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in music, or a minor in music or music industry.
